I'm guessing Ruka gets the discordant music of doom because she's going to die. The opening voiceover seemed pretty ominous, although it's hard to say for sure yet. (One of my friends from college ranted a lot about the Dead Lesbian cliché. I have a bad feeling that may wind up applying to Last Friends.)

i have watched Amami in [TopCaster] before and her character in [Ara4] feels similar... those career women kind. i am excited to see the chemistry between her and Fujiki though ^^

Heee, well I don't think it redeemed the drama, but it was pretty decent on its own - which is nice considering how many SPs are just flashback rehashes without any substantial new material. :) And I'm awfully glad that both Ken and Rei seemed to grow up finally.
I like the career woman type in jdramas, so I guess that's part of why I like Amami, but she has a charm apart from that, too. I'm also looking forward to how she and Fujiki play off each other.
And that music is annoying - I feel like it's a judgment on the character. And maybe it is.
