Yukan Club taking on a bunch of terrorists was great..haha. I still haven't watched this week's episode though.

I want to rewatch Sapuri again, probably do that over the holidays maybe. I haven't read manga in over two years...but you got me curious about the Sapuri one. I need to go find it somewhere.

I'm just mindboggled at how ridiculous the whole YC rescue mission was - the "terrorists" were so inept that they deserved to be shown up by a bunch of high school students! ;)

The Sapuri manga is very different from the drama, but I still like it quite a lot, and I really like how the director/writer of the drama translated different aspects from the manga to the screen.

It really is so much fun to be watching the drama after having background from the manga. It just adds another layer to it all. :) It seems like you, me, and dangermousie have all discovered this as of recently. :D

I agree! It definitely helps me to understand Minami more, but even without the manga, I just think I'm more open to the entirety of the drama right now than I was when it aired. I definitely owe a lot of that openness to you and your endless love for it. :)

Is the manga similar to the dorama?

I would say that drama is quite different from the manga; if you read nihongofrancais's post that I linked in my post, she articulates what some of the differences are. The drama did a great job of taking inspiration from the manga and utilizing various features in a new/different way while still remaining true to the spirit of the manga.

Rewatching the drama, after reading the manga, I'm even more struck at how well-written Sapuri is.

I love Yuya and Kame's portrayal but I just couldn't sympathize with Minami because I have Itoh Misaki-related issues. Maybe the next time around, I'll soften to her a bit more.

I was quite scathing of Itoh and Minami the first time around, but I still loved the drama. Partly my change of heart has to do with the fact that I just finished watching Itoh play a secondary character in Itoshi Kimi e whom I adored, so I guess I'm more inclined to like her now that I've seen some other sides to her as an actress. Also, I do feel like I understand the character of Minami a lot more now, both after having thought about the drama a fair amount, and after having read the manga. Rewatching the drama now, I admire and respect Minami and have a lot of sympathy for her that I absolutely didn't the first time around. I originally didn't find her very sympathetic and I only related to her in how she affected Yuya's happiness. ;) I was extremely Yuya-focused the first time around ( ... )

Sapuri is the drama that made me fall in love with Kamenashi! It made me realize his quality as an actor at 20 years old, which indicated to me his potential for future quality. Rewatching the drama impresses me all over again.

When I think about how hard I fell for Yuya and the drama, it still amazes me because I rarely am so attached and invested in fictional characters...and up until the day the first episode was aired in 2006, I hadn't even been intending to seriously watch the drama at all! :)
