*claps excitedly* I love that scene on the hill between Shiki and Shunsuke! It's so beautifully shot and then wonderfully executed by the two actors. :D And the scene about the last phone message under the sakura! :D

I hope you are liking it so far. :)

I agree! You're right about both scenes - they're very beautiful. This is something about jdramas that I love, a sort of step out of reality that could be cheesy (well, sometimes it is), but that I love nonetheless. They give us these gorgeous scenes, and in particular the phone message scene under the sakura is especially poignant in light of the conversation: sakura petals are falling around them, reminding them of beauty and death, as they talk about the death of someone very dear. Heavy and yet gorgeous.

I definitely like it so far. :) The Nagasaki shots were splendid! I was so happy to see a new city in a jdrama.

I am (as always) blinded by the beauty of Fujiki Naohito, yet I fear the angst...

Well, I'm only an episode and a half in, so I can say yet one way or another. It doesn't feel too heavy, although I get the sense that it could become more so later on. Still, I don't think he's dying! Only going blind.

And I definitely agree on the beauty of Fujiki Naohito. :) It's so nice to fangirl someone more age appropriate once in a while...;)

I feel a bit of "urk" fangirling any of the young ones except Oguri hun and Mutsujun(except I don't really fangirl him.) Part of why I stick to the older ones. Plus, Kame, Yamapi, etc. really always just FEEL like boys to me...I cannot fangirl when "hot" moments make me want to wrap them in a blanket and feed them.

Well, as I've stated before, I just like people in all their varying flavors. I suppose partly it depends on how you define "fangirl" - for me there really isn't any sexual connotation to it. I like them. They're pretty. Watching them and enjoying what they do makes me happy, so I've largely gotten over any ageist attitudes...especially considering that people like Kame & Yamapi are many years younger than me.

...I cannot fangirl when "hot" moments make me want to wrap them in a blanket and feed them.

That's pretty much how I feel about strippers. ;)

O-oh my gosh, no one told me it takes place in Nagasaki! (At least in part?) I used to walk by that bridge all the time! I took those street cars every day! And that looks like the spring Chinese lantern festival...? ajsdklfjkdslf I must see the first episode at least, solely for the location.

Oh Nagasaki! I miss it! ♥

Yeah! It goes between Tokyo and Nagasaki because Fujiki Naohito's character is from Nagasaki. :) So the first episode heavily features Nagasaki and two or three episodes later in the drama feature it as well. I saw this drama for the first time three years ago and it totally made me fall in love with Nagasaki just from the cinematography. I didn't go when I was in living in Tokyo, but I'm thinking I definitely have to go next time I'm there! :)

Eeeeee! I must see this! And yes, you should definitely go to Nagasaki! Everyone should! ;) It's sooo gorgeous, especially in the spring/summer when all the mountains are a beautiful deep green down to the ocean. *__* I am, of course, horrifically biased. XD

I've vaguely heard of this drama, but I didn't know what it was about. It definitely looks like something I might like, so I'll have to check it out.

nihongofrancais had many glowing things to say about it, and now that I've begun, I think I can see why. :)

Is this drama more like Sapuri or Tatta Hitotsu no Koi in terms of aura?
I haven't watched this yet since I'm a bit iffy with going blind photographer+ pediatrician love story. But I'll watch episode 1 because of Nagasaki--nostalgia and all that:) I found Nagasaki sad ( ground zero and Christian executions) and elegant ( rich trading past and castella:)

If you want to see Nagasaki, I think you will really enjoy the first episode which is full of beautiful shots of the city. I was very struck by them.

I don't think I can really compare this drama to either Sapuri or Tatta Hitotsu no Koi in terms of how it feels...it has a meditative quality about it, and it feels like it hovers between youth (in the sense of hope and possibilities) and adulthood (especially with the death, and then Shunsuke's disease), but it lands more on the adulthood side.

I'm only one and a half episodes in, so I'll likely be able to say more after a couple more episodes.
