I have nothing valuable to say, but I just saw your post and decided to offer some virtual hugs. :) There's a lot of LJ for me to catch up on, so I'm mostly ignorant of what has happened in your life lately, but... hugs are always good, right? :)

So - {{{hugs}}}!

I feel so vindicated in deciding to pass on ProDai (not the least because I can't spell it).

I heard about the afghani actors on NPR as I was reading your post--weird.

Someday I will watch Heroes ...

The thing is there were things about ProDai that were very cool, so it's such a huge disappointment that the writers chose not to capitalize on the drama's strengths and instead gave us that ridiculous end. Blech.

Peter was my favorite of S1, but since we've seen so little of him so far, I adore Hiro the most, especially since he is just unbearably adorable and earnest.

I didn't even like Yamapi's hair, unfortunately. I much prefer his black Kurosaki hair, or even that lovely long dark mane he was sporting last winter.

About Heroes and N's quibble: Do we know that he can only transform stuff into gold? Maybe he can transform other stuff too or even if it is just one metal into another, it's still helpful to transform a common material into a rare one. The reason he used gold this time could be entirely because it fit the talk and it is a kind of "legendary power".

You're right, we've only seen concretely that he can turn things to gold, but I guess we're scratching our heads over the biological imperative that could have produced the power to transmute metal. It's certainly useful with our current value system, but I don't know that it would be useful in an ecological economy, for example.

But Micah's power is like that too, so it's certainly not the first time we have seen a power that is only useful in a modern environment.
