JDrama ramble

Mar 31, 2007 18:16

Hmmm, I think I'm coming down with a cold. I woke up at 5:30 this morning with a painful sore throat and I feel yucky today.

But *glee* I'll get to watch the new episode of Doctor Who! It literally just finished, so I'll go squeeze some orange juice and settle in to watch.

Antique is based on a yaoi manga, so even though they didn't necessarily go that way in the drama(though I've only seen the first episode, so maybe they do later?) that's why that "odd" stuff is in there. I like Takky and I adore Fujiki Naohito, but I put it in because I needed me some Abe Hiroshi awesomeness, and he basically had a couple cameos that ep. So I moved on to Dragonzakura. I'll get back to Antique sometime(I've become one of those who starts a drama then doesn't touch it for months...bad me...)

And I agree aboutthe guy Yankumi likes in Gokusen 2. I mean, we all know it's going to REALLY be Shin in the long run, but Shinohara was cool and it was easy to see why Yankumi and the other teachers were so smitten with him, and he seemed to really like her, too. This guy is just kinda...there...and he's boring. I mean, Shinohara was always helping her and the guys out and their friendship develops and everything...he's an actual character, instead of just someone for her to crush on(and he was better looking, too)

THANK YOU SO MUCH for the info on Antique. I really thought I was losing my mind - even more than my WTF? about Akira/Shuji in Nobuta wo Produce because these long stares and the minute-long hand shake were so strange. It makes me feel a lot better to know that the text on which it was based meant for these lingering male/male significant looks. :) I've even noticed Fujiki looking at Takki this way, too!

And you're absolutely right - in the first Gokusen, Shinohara was a real character but Kujo is a cardboard cutout. I completely agree with everything you wrote.

The factthat Fujiki has the enigmatic and charismatic thing down perfectly(have you seen the movie g@me? *melts*) contributes a lot to those stares.

And Akira/Shuji is Akira and his specialness and Shuji's ultrarepression that's hidden under the fake!extreme outgoingness...though I'm sure Akira enjoyed making Shuji wonder...But yeah, never got any vibes off them, really, just Akira being Akira and Shuji being out of his league(in that category) Of course, I'm not really known for picking up on those things...

We need a 3rd Gokusen where Shinohara and Shin duke it out over Yankumi.

Bwahaha, I have no David Tennant icons. I'd better rectify this. I got the ep from the usual *ahem* source, BT. If you email me at gmail, I'll send it to you, if you want.

And the episode opening was pure Long Love Letter (jdrama)! I laughed and laughed.

Antique is very cute! I have no idea if you would like it - and I must warn everyone off these subs because they're so awful that it's an effort will to watch the drama despite them. But I'm enjoying nevertheless.

I agree, Teppei is ridiculously adorable. There are times when I just want to reach out and pinch his cheeks.

Oh, god, yes.

and thanks for the well wishes! N bought me some hot and sour soup and more oranges for juicing. He's such a sweetie. I don't think I'm going to this birthday party tonight. I feel too awful, blech!

Antique was amongst the first twenty Japanese dramas I watched and I watched it for Fujiki and Koyuki and Takki. It's a really light-hearted, episodic watch that makes you want to eat cake forever, but the subtitles do make you want to poke your eyes out. *laughs* Favorite scene from the first episode was when Takki and that girl who got dumped totally pigged out with their hands on her cake. *laughs* SO CUTE! ^_^

I saw that high-quality RAWs are getting uploading of Antique to D-addicts, so maybe someone will decide to cleanly soft-sub them. :)

I noticed that yesterday when I was feeling like poking my eyes out, so yes, I am really hoping that someone will resub it off those. Because my god these are awful subs.

It is a very cute drama so far, and I'm curious to see how it progresses. Fortunately, I did have some cake to snack on, or I would have been veeeeery hungry!
