This is absolutely brilliant and I can't wait to find out who wrote it. Painful, for all three of them - and of course the Doctor was trying to goad Jack into killing him. The Doctor and Jack are so well-written here, and in character, and you've also done such a good job with Rose, who loves and trusts the Doctor enough to be with him even though he hurt her, and to be there to support Jack as well.

Ooooohhh, this is terrific! Of COURSE the Doctor was acting out of his own self-hatred; why didn't I see that earlier? His behavior was indeed slightly painful to watch, but I loved the little flashes pride or horror when Jack momentarily got through to him. I loved the way Jack and Rose supported each other, too. You captured the dynamic between the three of them really well.
