This was clever in its use of a future Doctor and a Jack who seems to have evolved a bit! I like your companion (and the sign language) and her sense of independant thought as well--she is clearly not a lovestruck kid! Will we see more of this era?

Thank you! I haven't any specific plans to continue (although I did think out the backstory of Deryn's planet in stupid detail). But mayhap.

Excellent story and with a series like adventure. The Doctor and Jack are brillantly realized and interact perfectly together. Like the previous commenter I hope you do continue this as a series as there seems to be so much left to tell.

Thank you! I liked the idea of looking at the Doctor and Jack from an outside POV.

Interesting story with an enjoyable adventure. I especially liked the little details and worldbuilding thoughts you put into this (like the Corrican Sign).

I'm sure Deryn is right about the Doctor needing someone like Jack, too.

This was a very interesting take on a possible future for them both.

Thank you- I have a Thing for worldbuilding. I started with the idea that I wanted to have an outside POV, and that it should be the Doctor's companion. Then I randomly had the idea that I should make her deaf, but have it Not a Thing in the story. And then...

Very cool story! I love Deryn's insights into the dynamics between the Doctor and Jack, and I lovelovelove the sign language and how the TARDIS translates for her and that Jack knew it. Also that it wasn't a big thing, just a simple fact about her that colored her perceptions as any other detail about a character could do.

I really loved the idea of having a deaf character that was totally capable, and her deafness wasn't a Thing. Which, with the TARDIS translating for her, there's no reason it would have to be!

I also got to have all these thoughts about what a culture of deaf people would look like (actually I imagine Corrica Colony as being about 85-90% deaf from birth). And how a character from such a culture would think about things.

Awesome story! Totally in-character, and in a very nice, non-thorny way, and I love that Jack's an archaeologist now :) Also, the 'his eyes saying anytime you’re up for it, so am I, and adding we might be able to find a spare room now, as a matter of fact.' is hilarious. But most of all I love the little things you snuck in like Twitter and the Tardis translating to sign language- a fascinating concept- and how Jack just automatically knows the Doctor's favorite plan. Definitely one of my favorite long-term Jack & Doctor stories.
