This morning, I was in Catherine's room, feeding her, when Rex came in. He has a fascination with her crib, and it's a job keeping him out of it. (I don't worry about him getting in it when she's in it, though, because he tends to be wherever I am, and I'm not usually in her room when she's in the crib.) So he was exploring, as he tends to do, ( Read more... )

Our cats always loved baby cribs.
When James was about 3 but still sleeping in a crib because we were moving that fall and were going to put him in a bed then, Whiskers the cat, in search of the warmest place in the house, climbed into James' crib and got under the blankets. John and I were woken by the screams "Holp! Moner! Moner! Doh way moner! Holp! [Translated, that's little boy for Help! Monster! Monster!, Go away Monster, Help!" We got to the room to find a little boy very frightened but bravely kicking the monster [cat] in his crib, whom we gently removed, and James slept in our bed for the rest of the night. The cat went nowhere near the crib after that rude awakening.

I can see where a tiny child would find that terrifying, even when he was familiar with the cat.

I think in the end that the cat ended up more traumatized by the event that James was, and I'm being serious. He treated my little boy with much more respect, I'll tell you!

That is an absolutely adorable photo of Catherine. She is so beautiful! Post some soon; I want to have a good look at her. Or do you have an online photo album that I could take a peek at?

No, because I'm incredibly lazy about downloading photos. See, I have a photo printer that takes the SD card from the camera, so I just print them and they never make it to the computer, even. I do have some more recent ones that I need to download so I can e-mail them and post them.

This one is her in her tub seat.

I know!

He's really decided he likes the pacifiers, though. Maybe I'll have another chance.

Well, he does seem to like playing with them. I'll definitely try to get a pick.

Good thing Catherine doesn't need them...
