I imagine busking would be fantastic for honing one's live-performance skills, and doing it with friends would make things even more fun! And I adore your frivolous answer- the World of Harry Potter is a superb choice (and one I will definitely consider if I ever win the lottery :D). Haha! I always forget "Go the Distance," but the instant I read the song title, I started singing it! Infectious bastards, aren't these power ballads? And despite your annoyance with movies, I like your tagline quite a bit. *smooch*

Busking was just a delight. I wanted to do it again this year, but the advantage back in 2005 was that we had already been singing together for a long time so had quite a bit of repertoire, and not all of us were working full time (I think one or two members might have still been in high school). Now I would have to form a group of random singing friends who were in town, and then we'd have to learn rep, and schedule around jobs, and it just wouldn't work I don't think.

Hee! The Oxford History was in there because I am borrowing the first volume from the library right now, and I find it fascinating but I'm only on p. 70 (of 800) and I have no more renewals, as I put off reading for a month or so. I don't know what I'm going to do... I'm considering going to the library and begging the librarian to let me check it in and back out again. I mean, really, what demand is the small-time uni library going to have for it in the middle of the summer? :)

What's your favorite Disney power ballad? And I'm afraid I came down a bit hard on movies ( ... )

I am of the show-tunes generation whose eyes were opened by The Little Mermaid, so it was always "Part of Your World." Even though I maybe saw Pocahontas once, we had to do an SATB "Colors of the Wind," so I know all the words and sometimes pull that out in a pinch. I also have a HUGE soft spot for Hunchback of Notre Dame, so "God Help the Outcasts" is a favorite, too. And if I'm tired, "Reflection," since it's short :D

I think I would have been more obsessed with The Little Mermaid if we'd owned it, but I only got to see it as a special treat when I went to someone's house who had it. :) I've never seen Pocahontas or Hunchback of Notre Dame! And I've only seen Mulan once. I am such a Disney philistine, heh.

I do sing a lot of the ballads that aren't really power-ballads, per se. Like the ones from Cinderella, which was pretty much my favorite as a girl. Or "Once Upon a Dream" - I sing that a lot.
