Lucy Sings and Other Narnia Ramblings

Aug 16, 2012 17:31

I have the exam for my summer course (SOC 241) tomorrow so of course I'll procrastinate a bit by writing this post. I'm not really sure why I feel like writing a post today - but I do. So here I am.

So I recently got the album The Echo by Maggie Rogers and because my brain tends to match everything to fandom if at all possible, I realized that this ( Read more... )

music, narnia fic exchange, narnia, fanfiction

YES please. You know, I've been PMing with someone who is writing a story with lesser known characters in Telmarine Narnia (it's Heliopause's Resistance) and really the only thing on the Pit of Voles pulling reviews in the Narnia fandom now is Edmund and Peter brother angst in the Golden Age. That's it. So, yeah, your backstory on Halua isn't going to pull a lot of new readers. But I love reading your work and am very interested in your head canon.

I do see Lucy as artistic and I've seen that expressed in different ways -- music, visual arts, singing, or dancing. I can very much see her as you are thinking of her!

Yowch, that bad? I've been (slowly) posting RLTE over the past month and sure enough, there aren't too many reviews on that but I'm not too surprised, given it's an AU featuring Eustace and Jill. There really is a big difference between this and other fandoms, though. I was surprised when Jay and I posted our AF collab and got way more reviews than anticipated - especially since it was the first fic we'd posted on that account.

So, well, I may not get too many reviews but hopefully the ones I do receive will make up for it. :P

And yeah, I'm having so much fun picturing her like this that I'll have to play with the idea once I clear some other WIPs off my plate!

I think of Lucy as the musical one, too; she's SO very faun-ish, how could she not be? Also dancing.

My eye on the Pit disagrees with Rth, says only the "angsty girl in Narnia" fics are getting reviews. Regardless, it ain't those of us who write for people over 13.

Given all those nights out at the Dancing Lawn with Tumnus, how could she not pick up a love of music and dancing, really? And she'd want to talk with everyone, so while at first she'd dance with the rest, she'd probably also get to know all the musicians too. And she'd want to know how each instrument works, and there'd be an impromptu lesson and someone would give her a pipe and she'd spend the next two weeks playing it absolutely everywhere (and annoying the other three Pevensies in the process)...

Yeah, I have a lot of headcanon on this already, obviously. :P

Hm, it's too bad it's all for the 13 yr olds. And I feel bad cause I really haven't contributed to reviews, either. Need to set some time aside from school and writing and all the rest and have a night of fic reading or something. And leave plenty of reviews!

I can hardly remember the last thing I reviewed on ff.net, because I don't get more than three paragraphs into any of the stuff I (timidly) click on. The crap level is really rising alarmingly.

Oh my god, I LOVE that headcanon for Lucy! I always have her as a dancer in my headcanon, sort of a wild-child, if you will. Faun's influence. ;) I never thought about her as a graphic artist (in my headcanon, that's Caspian, haha), but I love your idea of a singer a lot.

And I would also LOVE to read more about Halua, so take this as cheerleading! More fic is always good!
