I have the exam for my summer course (SOC 241) tomorrow so of course I'll procrastinate a bit by writing this post. I'm not really sure why I feel like writing a post today - but I do. So here I am.
So I recently got the album The Echo by Maggie Rogers and because my brain tends to match everything to fandom if at all possible, I realized that this entire album pretty much reminds me of Lucy Pevensie. Especially
Creatures and
A Love Letter.
So today when I was driving my sister around to dance and myself to my eye appointment and such, I pretended it was Lucy singing. As such, I think I've developed the headcanon that Lucy is a singer. It's interesting because a lot of people seem to have accepted the fanon that Lucy is an artist in the pencil-on-paper, paint-on-canvas sense. And I can see that, sure, but I've never quite been fully behind that one. Yet I can see her as a singer so clearly. I imagine her with some sort of lute or other stinged instrument (keep in mind I honestly have no idea what type of stringed instruments fit the world) and she's picking at the strings and improvising lyrics and then Tumnus pulls out his pipes and someone else pulls out a drum and it's like a little music party out in the garden or in a sunlit corner of the castle somewhere.
So. That's a headcanon I didn't see coming but have fallen in love with now that I have it.
Since I finished up my submission to the NFE, I've been working steadily away at one fic that I began over a year ago and then shelved for a long time. It takes place on Halua, the setting of my NBB, only this one is during the Golden Age. I'm not sure what sort of a response it will get, seeing as it's pretty much entirely made up of OC characters. I'd almost say it isn't even fic at all, except it forms a very strong basis for certain Narnian headcanons that I've had for ages and really want to get around to sharing. It's a little intimidating to work on this story cause it's looking to be about eight chapters long and I... have a hard time with chapter length stories. Finishing them, that is. But I've got the first half polished up, although it's the second half that needs the most work. I want to finish it before summer, though. Then I can actually claim to have accomplished something besides the NFE.
(Ok, bit dramatic but I have so many WIPs, both fic and orig, that I've been finding myself overwhelmed recently. Egads.)
I haven't talked about the fic in a while, partly because I didn't want to disappoint people if I never finished it and partly because I don't really want to give much away? More the first one, though. But I thought that since I'm working on it again, I'd let you all know that I am because maybe it'll give me some more motivation to actually go through and finish it.
Speaking of Narnia and headcanon and fic: The Narnia Fic Exchange has recently begun the postings and while I'm seriously behind on the stories I've read, the few I've gotten a chance to look at have all been so awesome. So I'm looking forward to this weekend when I'll hopefully have a chance to catch up on those!
