[Anyone passing by house #21 will find Vyse camping out on the front lawn. Well, it's not as elaborate as camping, but he's stocked up on some food and has made himself quite comfortable on the grass.

Vyse is a man of his word and, as a follow-up of this conversation, he is waiting outside Fina's house until Ramirez lets him in. While he's here, ( Read more... )

[It's rather hard to miss his buddy just sitting out there on his neighbor's lawn like that. Okay, so Vyse is being weird, that's nothing new. But when he looks out a couple of hours later and Vyse is STILL there, it's time to go see what's going on.]

Are you waiting for someone to let you in?

Oh... i-it's okay, I understand. I don't think I would want someone telling other people about Ratatosk either.

Yeah... I can imagine that'd be pretty uncomfortable for you.

I just wish we could at least go visit Fina and see her ourselves.

She'll recover soon enough. I know she will. Then we can go out and do something fun together.

Maybe we could take your boat for a sail out on the lake once it gets a little warmer.

That'd be perfect. [He lies back, leaning on his elbows.] Have you ever sailed, Emil? At the helm, I mean.

No, I haven't, but I don't think I'd be very good at it. Controlling something that big is a little intimidating... what if I mess up somehow?

Heh, it's not intimidating. It's liberating. Once you get the hang of it, it's the best feeling in the world. I can teach you, if you want.

Really? You wouldn't mind?

Of course not! If I ever get my hands on a real air ship here, you could even join my crew.

You mean a ship that flies like a spaceship?

Not like a spaceship. Like a... uhm... skyship, I guess. It can't get to space. It just sails through the sky.

But still, a ship that flies at all is pretty amazing. The only thing we have like that in my world is those, um... those Rheairds Yuan was drawing.

Rheairds? Never heard of those. Air ships are... Hm... Imagine a ship that's five- no, ten times as big as the Anna Aurion. With sails and an anchor and everything. A bridge being crewed by at least five people... And it has cannons. Then, at the top of the main mast, a crows nest for the lookout. That's a real air ship.

[And that's just an Albatross-sized ship. The Delphinus was even bigger than that.]

How does it even stay in the air if it's that big? Does it use rockets too, or those things that shoot out fire? Or... wait, are those rockets? I can't remember.

[He's going primarily on the images of the Enterprise that he saw in McCoy's thoughts.]
