Holy Crap That's A Lotta Makeup O_o

Well! I'd say my visit to my sister Roni was a huge success :D

The bus ride to Be'er-Sheva was all right, considering... usually I take the train, which takes longer but is slightly more comfortable, and also has toilets (crutial when one is on one's period, and I always seem to choose that week to go visit my sister... go figure). Still, the bus is shorter and much cheaper, so I might keep doing it from now on. The train line to Be'er-Sheva has been under construction for the past 3 years, and once a month it closes for a week >< Hopefully all the construction means that when they finally finish, the trains will be more frequent and will take less time!

Anyway, I had no real idea where the bus stops were inside the city, and my sister said to just get off at the very first one. I did, and there, parked right in front of the bus, was my sister's car! It was so weird XD

We stopped by her place to drop of my bag and then went out for coffee (which I needed sooooooooo badly, it was perfect). Then we headed off to the Il Makiage college, which was where I'd scheduled our make-up classes :) We got there 15 minutes early and waited patiently but tiredly until 6PM came around. Then we were told it would take some time more - the previous customer for the class had arrived late, so her session was going to run late.

That really got me mad. Why should we have to wait, because someone else got there late? They should have told her (the customer) the moment she arrived, that they would be cutting her class short because she had arrived late. Or, they could have notified the girl who was doing her make-up that the 6PM appointment had arrived on time (early, in fact, so they had a 15-minute head's up to warn her) and that she'd better rush the current customer's class so that it finishes on time.

In the end, we waited for nearly 40 minutes. We were promised 100NIS' worth of cosmetics as compensation, but at the time I couldn't have cared less. This treatment really upset me, since the woman on the phone at the customer service line was very helpful and called me back every single time she said she would, on the times I couldn't talk at work or didn't yet have an answer from my sister. I really should call her and complain about the lateness on the class itself... but oh well. We got in eventually.

And once we got in! Wow. The cosmetician spent a lot of time on my sister, because really Roni knows nothing of make-up. She introduced her to concealer as a base for eye-shadow, where and how to apply various shades of colour, how to blend them, liquid- and pencil-eyeliner, lipstick, mascara... She worked on me for about the same time but with different products, to show my sister how it's done. (Roni looks better with earth-tones - browns, pinks, golds; while I can do colour - blue, green, purple, etc.)

In the end I thought we both looked a bit like drag-queens, just because of the sheer amount of make-up we had on our faces. But Roni liked her new look, and we both got used to it after a while. We went out to dinner and no-one looked at us funny, so I guess it was only under the florescent lights that the make-up looked a bit harsh.

The class itself was free of charge (!!!) and since it was a birthday we got a special-offer 42% discount on all the make-up we decided to buy after the class. We got a lot of stuff, some of it for me too (this was completely unplanned! Roni just said some of the stuff they used on me looked amazing, and practically made me get some make-up for myself too. Really, I don't need it. I have tons of make-up at home, lol) and altogether it cost 788NIS (roughly $220, or £140). Since the class was free, I took on about 150NIS of that, plust the cost of my own make-up, so that our parents paid 500NIS - their birthday gift to Roni.

Here's the make-up Roni got...
cream concealer (to use as a base for eye-shadow)
3 shades of eye-shadow (pink, orange-peach, and brown)
a fluffy brush for applying eye-shadow
mascara (black)
a lash curler (she has very straight lashes... I have naturally curved ones, she's always been jealous ^^;; )
liquid eyeliner (dark grey, since they'd run out of black >< )
a brush for applying eyeliner (she's gonna need some practice with that... even I have a hard time drawing a straight line with eyeliner! XD )
a pencil-eyeliner (ice blue)
and as compensation for the wait - lipstick (light pink)

I got...
liquid eyeliner (dark blue - I'd wanted black too, but since I have black pencil-eyeliner which I just recently bought, it was a good thing I was forced to choose a colour!)
a brush for eyeliner
glitter pencil eyeliner (ice blue with silver glitter! It's amazing, I can also use it as eye-shadow, it smudges really pretty and I've always wanted something with glitter ^_^ )

And Roni has a year-long 42% discount, which I can also use by giving her ID number at shops :P

The bus ride home the next morning was less fun - at 10:30 there was still a somehow enormous line for the express bus to Tel-Aviv, and I got on a minute too late to find a seat. I ended up sitting on the floor (a lot of people did) but at the back of the bus, which is the hottest place because it's closer to the engine. I passed the 90-minute ride in a sort of stupor; I think I was dehydrated too. I spent the 50 minutes between the bus's arrival at Tel-Aviv and the train's departure home to rest and drink. Then I got home, ate, showered, and slept until the evening! XD
