...is definitely not the smartest thing I've ever done. Especially after not having danced for two weeks.
On the other hand, both nights were fun :P We learned a fun move on Saturday night called 'Peter Pan' where the girls take a sort of half-step with a twist, so we end up facing the opposite direction - it's basically a switch-direction move. And of course it had lots of variations (we only learned three) but during the teach I had an easy time remembering it. Later at the party itself, I danced awfully >< Seriously, one guy danced with me and I did so badly, I kept messing up moves. Later, after sitting out for several songs because no-one asked me to dance, he took pity on me and we tried again... I did just as bad. I also felt embarassed because he looked kind of geeky so I automatically assumed he wouldn't be very good - just goes to show me how judgmental I am :(
I woke up on Sunday morning already sore - but Sunday evening was the last class of the LA Course I was redoing, so I couldn't not go. On the last class we all bring food and drink and only learn one new move, so it was a fun class and we bonded a lot more than we usually do :)
I brought the same thing I did last time we finished the course - olive snacks. Yes yes, OMG, I cooked something. I don't usually cook. Both my sisters and our mom cook a lot, they're all really good, but I never got into cooking so much. If anything, then baking speaks to me a bit. I like making cookies and dough-y things. I baked the olive snacks last time and everybody loved them - seriously, loved them. Most people bought things - cookies or pastries; one guy brought a bottle of wine, that was nice - but my contribution was the most special thing there :) I was asked for the recipe by no less than three people XD
For anyone interested - they're veeeeeeery simple, and really excellent finger-food.
Olive Snacks
2 cups flour
100 g butter
250 g grated Caciocavallo cheese (or any half-soft, yellow cheese you want)
1 tsp baking powder
2 tbs cold water
Mix it all up into dough, store in the fridge for the night.
1 large tin of pit-less olives; strain them and wrap each one in a bit of the dough (it helps to work with a small batch of the dough each time, so it stays cool - the moment the dough warms up it gets all gooey and sticky and harder to work with) and place on baking sheet in a pan. Bake in the oven at around 200C for roughly 15 minutes - keep a close watch on them! They over-crisp really easily. Coat in whipped egg after a few minutes to give them a golden shine :)
So... all that was fun, but I haven't been sleeping well and it's gotten damn cold in the mornings. I feel like I'm about to get sick again, and with the proper flu this time - all my muscles hurt. But that's probably the salsa talking, and my headache is from spending two hours on the phone last night, fighting with Ori, and from having two major hypos.
Tomorrow I have a hospital check-up, totally routine, and I'll ask my doctor if I've lost too much weight since last time (seriously, either all my jeans are getting bigger or salsa has slimmed me down way more than I thought) and if I ought to get the flu vaccine or not...
Also! Friday marks the beginning of the Diabetes Foundation Sponsor Program - I'm sponsoring a twelve-year-old girl who was recently diagnosed and helping her deal :) Hope I don't mess it up!
