I don't come here often just to bitch, but this is one of those exceptions.

One of the biggest reasons I HATE my job is the smokers. No, I don't care that everyone smokes - that's their own issue. But it becomes my issue when everyone LEAVES THE DOOR OPEN while they smoke 2-6 feet away from it... which, by the way, is illegal. And I'm sitting a ( Read more... )

Can you ask them politely, "Excuse me, would you mind if I close the door while you guys are on your break?"

I might be able to, but I'm afraid of their reactions. :/ I think I'll have to try, though. I just don't want to get in trouble.

You definitely should, it's a health concern! They shouldn't get mad at you for it, how hard is it to close the door? If you get fired because you asked for better (and more legal) work conditions, they're the ones who can get into real trouble.
