I think muscle builds REALLY quickly, actually, if you went from never exercising to suddenly doing a LOT of it. Your body might be trying to compensate for suddenly being pushed all of a sudden.
My recommendation? Stay away from that scale for the next 3 weeks, and judge your progress based entirely on how you FEEL. Are you proud of yourself for eating so healthy? Do you feel you have more energy? Are you impressed with your steadily-increasing stamina? Weight is just a number. Nothing more.
I do feel really good about what I'm doing, so I'm probably going to bury the scale for now. It's just making me doubt myself when I know I'm doing my best. ^^;
Yeah, that scale can be a real buzz-kill when you try to do your body right D< I was advised not to look at a scale more than once a week when trying to lose weight, because the small fluctuations that go on throughout the day can be misleading and discouraging. ^I like katielovespink's advice, I think I might follow it myself on my own weight-loss quest this year ~
Thanks for all the great info :) I did check again today before reading this, and I went back down by 3. I need to stop letting little things discourage me, but I guess I had a rough first week, haha.
I was thinking about the swelling thing as a theory, but wasn't sure if that was correct. The muscle memory makes sense, though. Just another reason not to weigh myself all the time.
I'm going to try to instead check my body fat once a week. Since, you're right, that's a much better indicator of results.
