ACTION ALERT: Help save Nova Scotia's forests!

Aug 04, 2006 14:04

The Nova Scotia government's going to be developing a new Natural Resources strategy over the next year, made up of Forests, Mining, Parks, and Biodiversity sections -- and it's going to be a longterm, at least 10-year, plan. I don't suppose they care what tourists think? Even tourists who visit Nova Scotia every year, promote its beauties to anyone who cares to listen, and have brought thousands of American dollars into the province over the past decade, largely because of the natural beauty of its forests?

Given how we're facing yet another year of declining tourism, particularly from the Boston States, they damn well should. The Premier used to be the Minister of Tourism :-), so he should be receptive.

The current Tourism Minister is (and doesn't seem to have his email set up yet):

The Honourable Len Goucher
Minister
Department of Tourism, Culture and Heritage
6th Floor, World Trade and Convention Centre
1800 Argyle Street
P.O. Box 456
Halifax, NS B3J 2R5

Phone: (902) 424-4889
Fax: (902) 424-4872

He's from Bedford, a small town that is just north of Halifax (and part of the amalgamated HRM). He does have a certain background in environmental concerns from his time as a municipal councillor, when he was on watershed and lake protection committees.

If you were so inclined, I'd hit both of them :-)

The Premier's snail address is:

The Honourable Rodney MacDonald, Premier
Office of the Premier
PO Box 726
Halifax, Nova Scotia
B3J 2T3.

*Thank you*
