Dean had been pondering how to get around to talking about a weekend off - not that he deserved time for himself, at any rate, but nothing else was quite pressing, so he might just as well - when Sam tried to angle the conversation towards going somewhere that didn't involve a case. Which got Dean's attention right up, enough to ask where

How about today?
He then took a sip of his coffee as he checked out the local news. "You know, this town seems to be a source for a lot of activity in the last 7 years..."

But he thought Lana could handle it, for now, and if Sam had problems, well, he was close by. To laugh.
His attention, however, returned to the blonde by his side. "Cherry it will be, then. Thank you very much, ah, Chloe Ann. ... I actually like that."
Good thing his choice was made, as the waitress got to them to take their order.

"Though we could do the random person... maybe the waitress can tell me something about you."

She looked over at Sam then. "I wouldn't mind one bit, actually. But you know... fair exchange. I tell you everything about my adopted sister, you have to tell me everything about your brother."

"Are you sure about this?" she asked Sam. "This isn't exactly a normal town. Wouldn't want to scare you off."

Dean was far from the persuasion that actually exchanging life stories was a good idea at all... but he was also pretty damn certain that his brother had plenty enough common sense not to mention some things.
As for the rest... well, it wouldn't be the first time they made each other look ridiculous. Nor the last. And Sam knew well enough that if he was bad, the retaliation would be adequate.
And they all needed a good laugh, really.
"Nah, I doubt either of us gets scared off too easily. You know, two boys on a road trip, we couldn't afford to be frightened of our own shadows." Putting it mildly. On the other hand... "We did notice that the news around here are occasionally kind of - concentrated. A lot happening for a small... ville. It kinda makes more sense now, Chloe, the bit with you writing stories about ( ... )

He turned to Lana, flashing his grin. "And I don't scare easy. Dean does, depends on the circumstances." Sam smirked at his brother.
And he'd be curious to hear the girls' answers to Dean's last question.

Chloe raised a brow. "Dean scares easy? Well, now... that's... interesting." She smirked, suddenly fully prepared to tease her "date".

She turned up her nose a little at Chloe's little memory. "Oh, the "love molecule". The cheerleaders managed to create a love potion to turn the football players into their love slaves. Unfortunately it also made anyone affected insanely jealous of anyone who so much as looked at the object of their obsessive affection." She grinned a little at Chloe, thinking of her horrible excuse of cheerleading. "I managed to escape that one, but senior year wasn't so kind to me either." Evil slut possession. Not pretty.

... and not exactly their kind of weird either. Which somehow made it even weirder.
On the other hand, Chloe's blush? Was pretty.
Dean half-smiled at her, then tilted his chin sideways and up. "Nope, I don't scare easily - that was, um, something that lasted about forty-eight hours and is done with. Now I'm all courageous and ready for anything y'can throw at me!" And that was honest truth too. He even managed to not glare at his brother.
Much.
"Well, just in case anybody's interested in changin' the topic, this might be a good time to bring this up. Chloe and I were discussing walks on the beach and she mentioned she's not done that for a while, and I said we could do somethin' about that. It's a good long drive still, but anybody interested in that?"
If the town was weird, and they had their full of it, the suggestion might still fly, too.

As for the wanting to split up...bad things tended to happen when Sam and Dean did that. Though sometimes it was necessary. They'd have to play that one by ear.
"How long of a drive we talking about? Not that I have any objections to long walks on the beach, but we spend most of our time in the car so the more time out, the better."

Her grin broadened when he mentioned the walk on the beach. "You haven't forgotten. Color me impressed. And you know, I am totally still up for that."

"If the lake shore walk is too accustomed-to to be taken as a substitute, of course. Or maybe there's another lake nearby that you didn't know the sight of by heart when you were eight."

He bit his lip a bit, but shrugged. "I'm good for whatever." He didn't want to be the one to make the choice in the end.

The grin on her face grew a bit bigger. "I might have had my heart set on the beach, but, uh... whatever you boys would like to do is fine by me. I mean, you did travel all this way to see us. I think we should leave it up to you."
