I have three ideas for wincestiel fics I want to write and since the checks ins are months away the idea I post in the sign-up might not be the one I end up writing. Is that ok?
I'll figure out something if it isn't.

That's perfectly fine, you don't have to decide now. We just put that up to get an idea of what people are thinking, but you are in no way obligated to write that specific story. In fact, if you want to write more than one story, that's fine to, we just can only guarantee that one of them gets art~

Thank you!
The last time I wrote a 15k word story was years ago. I don't want to overreach and go for two now.

Hi! I would really love to sign up for this, but I have a bit of a dilemma on the posting rules. Because I post my fic in my writing community, even if I member lock my post there is absolutely no way to keep the people who are members of my comm from reading my bigbang in the time between final draft posting and unlocking for open readership. Therefore, my story will not be secret until my posting date. Is there any way I can email you my final draft and post the links myself on the day of or maybe post on midnight of my posting date and then email you the links right away so you have all day on my posting date to post the links at your convenience?

We would love for you to sign up... so let's see if we can work it out.

I think the best way would be for you to post it at midnight of the date you get and then get us the link right away once that happens. Or we can just make sure that you have the first posting date so that even if you end up showing it to the members of your community for a few days early... it won't make much a difference.

Either way, we'll figure it out so go ahead and join us. Just make sure to remind us mods in November so that we can make a final decision on how we want to do this then~

I would definitely prefer to post on midnight of my posting date and then email you the links--I also have a lot of people watching my comm who are not members, so if I post the entry locked a few days before it goes live, those people will miss it on their flists, and that will make me a sad panda. :P

But I'm just glad you guys are willing to work with me on this! Signing up now. :D

Two things...

One, cherie_morte actually already covered. My fics are also posted to a writing comm, and there's no easy way to keep a fic post hidden until my date. Is there a reason behind this? Every other big bang I've done in the past, drafts are e-mailed in, and the author posts their own links to the comm on their posting date. It seems like it would be a lot easier in terms of keeping the fics under wraps until the posting date. I'm not sure I understand the reasoning behind the mods being in charge of posting the links. :\

Two, can an author sign up and already have an artist they want to work with? I only ask this because it will determine if I sign up with a story I've already started and really want to finish, or if I want to try to come up with a new idea altogether.

That's fine, and obviously youre entitled to do things however you wish. It just seems very inconvenient. Even people who don't use comms will lose out on readers who don't see them actually post the fic because it's hidden for several days, if they have a later posting date. I could see maybe if you had people post the day before their specific posting date and send you the links then, but even that seems like extra work for no real reason.

But again, this is just my opinion. I very much appreciate you taking the time to clarify, thank you!

Would a genderswap fic be ok?

Hi! I think about signing up as an artist since you allow podfics as art. YAY for that! We podficcers are always happy about challenges allowing us to contribute and not just enjoy the outcome, which we of course do as well. So my question is: Do we have to hand in two big pieces as well? Obviously we can only record the fic once... I have no experience with other art but I need about 6 hours for every 5000 words, which makes recording a big bang fic kind of a big thing. Would it be okay, if podficcers only hand in the podfic?
Thanks for creating this wonderful big bang by the way! :)

Heya. Yes, of course, for podfics it would make sense for you two do two pieces (you know, one in an American accent and the other in British... wait, what?). So, yes, so long as you just create the podfic and upload it somewhere where its available for everyone, then that totally counts as art in our book, nothing else needed. Sorry that wasn't clear in the art info.

Oh that would be an interesting experiment, me faking an American accent and then faking a British accent both mixed with my German accent... Mh yeah... No! ^^

Thanks for the info, off to sign up... ;)
