Almost but Never

Almost lost and halfway gone
Almost right but mostly wrong
Hopelessly loved and haunted
Feeling alone but undaunted

Never giving up and unrelenting
Taking a rest but not sleeping
Look at me and be fooled
I'm more than what you see
But ask me to let you in...

Continue to hope for
A life beyond petty pride and lost time

Divided down a line of insecurities
Wanting to wake up from a life on autopilot
Only coming to find out sooner than later
That this destination is only where I departed

From birth to childhood
More burdens begin to become apparent
Becoming a happy child to a distraught parent
It's more real than anyone would think

Promises are the hardest thing to hold onto
Facing the person you once again lied to
Lying once again just to keep a friend
Building on top of lies just leaves a faltering end
