I've been using the phrase "throw ____ under the bus" an awful lot lately.  I need to stop doing that.  And where did that expression even come from?

Part one.

So, how to organize the books?  My first thought was that we would look up the Dewey numbers for all the nonfiction on librarything, and shelve them in Dewey order.  We haven't done that . . .  yet.    We  did make some rough categories, though:

Last night we completed Phase One of a major book reorganization project.  On Saturday, we went through all our books and filled twelve (12!) grocery bags, which we took to the book thing.  Then we started organizing what was left by subject.

"Walk Score" is this cool little thingy that rates your address or neighborhood on walkability.  My neighborhood is one of the top 10 most walkable in Baltimore.  We've been talking in a desultory way about moving, and I would really like to stay in a walkable neighborhood if I can.  Here's what I notice about Baltimore's most walkable ( Read more... )

It's 90 degrees F at 9:46 p.m. here in beautiful Baltimore.  I spent the day inside, soaking up the AC and making gazpacho.

 Do I have to have fire-related trauma every May?  Is it a tradition now?
