Have you got a few days to listen?  I'm going to focus this answer on what I would change about how we elect the President.

1. I would get rid of the electoral college.  The winner of the popular vote wins the election, period.

2. Mandatory public campaign financing and spending caps.

Yes and...

I'm also interested in thinking about mandatory voting. As in, you don't vote, you get hit with some kind of fine. Or have to do community service. Obviously, if we're going to do that, then we need to have a "none of the above" option, but... I really believe that for this country to be a democracy EVER SINGLE PERSON (who is over 18) needs to vote. Period. (With a few exemptions for people in comas and other life-challenges who can't make adult decisions).

What happens if "none of the above" wins?

A lot of people are really not down with civic responsibility. Four years ago I was doing some voter registration and a woman told me she didn't want to register to vote because she didn't want to be called for jury duty. Sigh.

I don't know... it'd be tough. but sometimes none of the above seems like the best choice! i do think this would require a total revamping of amerikan politics...
