HxH Main Four Photoshoot!!!

Apr 07, 2019 12:22

Yes, this finally happened last Wednesday! Ever since I first met this Killua cosplayer, Yume-san at Super Comic City in GW 2016 we've been talking on Twitter about wanting to organize something like this, but since she works on weekends and we didn't know any Gon or Leorio cosplayers that might be able to join (the people she'd worked with before all stopped cosplaying, moved on to different fandoms, or weren't available on weekdays >< ) , it just never got off the ground... Until now! I took a day off work so we could shoot on a weekday, and Yume-san recruited a Gon while I recruited a Leorio. =D  We also found an awesome photographer who really loves HxH and was able to join on the same day, and looking at the pics I've received so far, the results are going to be amazing!

Yay~  (Flowers to convey atmosphere during the entire shoot xD  We were so happy to have the entire crew together!)

We shot at Hacostadium Tokyo, which is... actually in Chiba? I had to take the train for about an hour and a half to get out to Funabashi, and then walk about 15 minutes from the train station there. I guess there isn't any space in Tokyo for such a huge cosplay studio with such reasonable prices, though >w<  It was 3500 yen for a whole day per person, and if you entered with four people, the fifth person got in free (so we used that so the photographer didn't have to buy a ticket). I still had my Hacostadium members' card from when I did that Hozuki no Reitetsu shoot at the Kawasaki studio ( Exactly a year ago, omg!), so check-in was fairly smoothly... Unlike the person who still had to sign up for a card without having a phone with internet, and the new employee at the counter had no idea how to do that so another staff member had to walk him through the steps ^^; It took a while before we could go in, but it was okay since we had all day =D

It was so quiet! I think there were only one or two groups beside us at the entire studio all day, and we barely saw them because we were shooting on different sets. The place was so big you could get lost in it! I did get lost a few times when I went to get something from my locker and then the others moved to a different location while I was away and I couldn't find them anymore xD

We mostly ended up using the white screen for photos though, because apparently that's the most popular area and it's unusual to get so much time in it without having to make way for other groups.

Everyone looked so cute and awesome! >w< I'm really glad I made the Yorkshin outfit! Come to think of it, I made it especially for this occasion ;_;  (Even though I'm sure there'll be more chances to wear it, like the HxH-only event in September!)  I'm sort of surprised how well it turned out looking in the photos, since the yellow biasband parts were still wrinkly even after ironing the heck out of it the day before. And I don't have a full-length mirror at home, and I made the skirt and top separately, so I had no idea what the proportions of the costume would end up looking like in full-body shots... I was afraid that my waistline would be way too 'high', but but after comparing some photos to official art it's actually pretty spot-on!? =O

Fooling around while waiting for the photographer to set things up xD If you look at this pic upside down it looks like we're doing handstands, lol

There were so many other cool areas we could have done something with if we'd had more than one day, though >w< I think we only used about 3 or 4 other sets even though there were over 20 of them. xD

Not the right outfit for this scene, but when we saw that there was a church I just had to do this xD

After we were pretty much done shooting the Yorkshin in spired scenes (there's only so many scenes in which these four are together, we realized when trying to come up with poses), Killua and I changed to the Hunter Exam versions so we could shoot some pictures like that, too. Leorio and Gon are the same anyways, so they didn't have to change, lol xD

This is so awesome!! ;_;   These outfits are probably still the more iconic ones, so I'm really glad we got to do this, too! And look at those height differences!! Our group was so perfectly proportioned >wwww< The Gon and Killua were also really happy that having a taller Leorio and Kurapika made them look smaller xD

And apparently it was Kurapika's birthday on April 4th! I guess I knew about it, but I just hadn't considered that it would be the day after the shoot, until the others suggested that we take a birthday picture. The studio also had the perfect set for it!

I can't wait to see the rest of the photos!!

photos, cosplay, epic win, hunter x hunter
