Asaka concert!

On Sunday after shopping I went to Liquid Room in Ebisu, a concert hall where Asaka's solo concert would be held! She's the singer for one of the ending themes of the ISLAND anime, so at work I got an invitation to attend the concert for free. Who could say no to that!? She also sings the Yuru Camp ending theme "Shiny Days" which has been one of my favorite songs lately (I ALMOST picked it as my 'song to represent my year' for my year-end survey on LJ) so I was hoping I'd get to hear that song live, too!

And I did! And I got even more than I was hoping for! Asaka is a big anime song otaku herself, so apparently she always sings a bunch of anime song covers at her concerts - different ones each time. This time she sang the Yuru Camp opening, as well as "Don't Say Lazy" from K-on! It was so energetic ;_; It's still hard to believe she's only 19, she's a real professional, and such a good singer! I didn't know any of her own songs, but I might buy her first full album when it comes out later this year >w<

The venue was... interesting, too. It was more of a "live house" than an actual concert hall (it was quite literally underground), so even guests had to pay a drink fee of 500 yen... The only soft drink was water, so that was some expensive water ^^; But considering it was all I paid for the concert, it was still cheap. xD

They also had a "women only" viewing area, which I've never seen before =O When I arrived, about 15 minutes before the start of the concert, the room was already packed, so I was expecting to just listen from somewhere in the back, when a female staff member called out to me and said "The women's area is over here!" So I went there, and saw that an area on the far right side in front of the stage had been blocked off by fences, and there was only a handful of girls in there... So I stepped in, and before I realized it I found myself in the first row... =O The other girls were mostly standing against the fence in the BACK of the area, and they were like "go ahead!" and pointed in front of them when I entered ^^;) I guess those girls don't WANT to be front row? In that case, I'll take it xD The area filled up a bit more before the concert actually started, but somehow I comfortably got to lean on the fence in front of the stage while watching Asaka from about one meter away when she came to our side of the stage *-*

The women's area honestly was a lot more comfortable than the rest of the crowd looked to be ^^; Of course the tallest men were standing right in front of the stage, and they were all jumping and screaming and had their hands raised the whole time, and wildly waved around their glowsticks and towels in Wota-gei fashion... I think I would've gotten smacked in the face if I'd been standing here. xD The girls just waved their glowsticks politely in front of them like at other girls-oriented concerts such as Tenimyu and Toumyu. And they were all short, so they didn't block each other's view. It's honestly a good idea!

Apparently she'll have another concert later this year, this time in EX Theater Roppongi (with actual seats) so if I get an invitation and the time is right, I would definitely go again =D
