I'm okay, she's not

School is going pretty well. I'm getting straight A's in Media Literacy, and I'm currently writing a reality TV show analysis on Mythbusters. I got an A on my first Criticism test too, which surprised me. We're covering reader-response theory right now, which is really trippy complex stuff, but it's an interesting topic. I think you are doing the right thing. For a parent to do that to their grown up child at all is pretty shocking, and that fact that she isn't even their daughter- that she was adopted by them at such an old age- means the relationship should be more like good friends than controlling parent ( ... )

I do think this is the right thing to do, my inner obedient goody-goody is just a little panicked. (My parents go to bed early because they go to work early, and one night over the summer a friend invited me out after they had already fallen asleep and I didn't want to wake them up, so I left a note. Then I spent the whole night worrying that one of them was going to wake up and see that I wasn't home and freak out because I didn't actually ask if I could leave.)

Thanks for being supportive, this means a lot to me, and I'll pass it on to Sam.

Wow, what a tough situation.

I think you're doing the right thing, and I think Sam is really lucky to have a friend like you.

Thanks. It's a weird place to be in, having to be the only person she can count on in the whole bi-state area but I take this whole best friend thing really seriously, like if she asked me for a kidney, I would be like "Sure, Sam, which one?"

That Wolf guy sounds unhinged! Sam is lucky to have a friend like you, and I hope she's able to make a successful escape tomorrow.

Thanks, Beesy. I'm sure we'll be able to get out of there fine, I'm just worried about what's going to happen when he tries to contact Sam and she tells him she's leaving for her boyfriend's and not coming back. :/

This is a horrible situation but I think you're doing the right thing. I don't want to rehash everything that's already been said, but I agree with everyone who's commented, especially flossiepots. I hope Sam will be happy once she gets to Sean, and I'm sure she knows and appreciates what an incredible friend you are. I'll be thinking of you guys.

Also, kudos to your mom for helping out.

Thank you. Yeah, my mom's been so supportive with all of this, she's really Sam's best parental figure right now. I just hope my dad is okay with Sam staying at our house for however long until she leaves for Texas, especially when I go back to my dorm for the school week and she's there by herself.
