I got that same light show in the shuttle from the office to the Yellow Line; exceedingly impressive, yes. And very unsettling until I got home and could just watch it from the living room. Sorry you got stuck in that mess for so long, but I'm glad you're all right.
I was actually weirdly unbothered, other than while I was worried about getting to the theatre on time. Probably in large part because traffic was moving so slowly -- even if there had been a multi-car pileup, nobody would have had worse than a mashed bumper.
Also, I'm just weird with storms -- I'll worry about a specific objective threat, like "hey, look, funnel cloud, hope it doesn't eat the house" (yes, I seriously stood in the middle of our street and watched one get bigger once when I was about 14), but I just don't get a fear reaction from the storm itself.
Eeek! I saw your post, but I wasn't sure where the concert was. That would have been...eek. I was soooo relieved when I got off on 90 and could move again.
I rescheduled the tickets for next week's performance so we will try again. :-)
The funny bit is that while it was stormy here earlier in the day, it was barely drizzling in my neighborhood when we left. (Yeah, I missed Amy's call by about five minutes so we actually drove to the theater, but no worries as traffic wasn't bad on the surface streets and we stopped for pizza on the way home so it wasn't a total loss.) We listened to the car radio describing all the downed power lines and trees in the suburbs and then the DJ's were marveling that the Sox still hadn't decided whether to call the game due to weather or not. "How can they think there's a chance they can still play in this storm?" And I kept mentally answering, "Because it's barely drizzling there."
The guy who answered the phone (didn't get his name) was nice and when I said I wanted to re-schedule for the next week his response was "Great!" (The note on the door of the theater said to call to reschedule or for a refund, so he was probably happy I didn't want a refund.)

I spent four hours on 294 trying to get to Ravinia yesterday. It was a royal mess.

Just tell me you got good customer service. Last time I had people come out to see me somewhere, there were some issues on that front...
