TF: Yet Another Drabble Spectacular

Sep 30, 2013 11:15

Rating: PG-13
Series: G1
Pairings: Prowl/Jazz
Summary: Drabbles concerning Prowl and Jazz, based on the prompts given in the Anniversary Challenge
Warnings: None
Disclaimer: As per usual, the good things in life are not mine to have, but belong to someone else... in this case Hasbro, Takara and IDW and anyone else I’ve forgotten…
Authors Notes: This is an unofficial entry for the prowlxjazz Anniversary Challenge. I wanted to do what I’d done with Hound/Mirage and Red Alert/Inferno and do a drabble a day. Unfortunately, strict drabbles don’t count for the challenge, which is why you’re getting them every 5 days to make up the word count. Think of these as After Eights after the main course of the wonderful submissions for the challenge. And yeah, I know you were all waiting for me to do another one, mad thing that I am.
Feedback makes friends. Flames dealt with by the masters of paranoia and fire, Red Alert and Inferno

Day 26: Prompt 1: juxtaposition
The juxtaposition of that brilliant red chevron against all the black and white drew Jazz’s optics.  He knew he had a similar look, the bright blue visor set against his monochrome paint job, but he livened his up with stripes of red and blue, drawing the attention away from his visor.  Prowl, on the other hand, had very little color.  Except the chevron and the red triangle between his legs.  They certainly drew the optics to them.  And Jazz’s fingers.  Jazz delighted in stroking over the small patches of red on his lover.  And he loved the response he got.

Day 26: Prompt 2: Let's dance
They whirled around the dance floor, unaware that they were the focus of attention.  Their attention was only for each other.  And the dance.  It was a seductive dance, in which both took turns in leading.  The steps became more and more complicated.
“They look amazing.” Someone murmured.
“Praxian Courtship dance.” Someone else commented knowledgeably.
“Didn’t realise a Polyhexian would know it.” A snide comment this time.
“Mech, that’s Jazz… he knows everything.”

“You do realise what you’re doing, right?” Prowl murmured as they danced.
“’Course I do.” Jazz answered, taking the lead again.  “There ain’t nothing I want more.”

Day 27: Prompt 1: you're the air that I breathe
“C’mon Prowl, please?”
“Jazz, this is not appropriate.”
“What’s not appropriate is you not giving me an answer.  Mech, I asked ya if ya wanted ta bond with me, and ever since, all I got is a cold shoulder.”
“Jazz, I…”
“Nah, I’ve got it Prowl, you don’t want ta take that step.”
“I do.” Prowl’s words were almost too quiet for Jazz to hear.  “I want it more than anything.  You’re the air that I breathe, my reason to keep fighting.  Of course I want to bond with you.”
“Then why take so long ta answer?”
“I was scared.”

Day 27: Prompt 2: nothing lasts forever, make it count
"Jazz?” Prowl stared at the candles around their quarters, doorwings twitching at the soft music playing.  “What is the meaning of this?”
“We both got the evening off… thought we could make the most of it.” Jazz explained.  Prowl nodded in approval.
“C’mon…” Jazz held out a cube of high grade.  “As the humans say, nothing lasts forever, so ya gotta make it count.”  Prowl smiled as he took the cube.
“Indeed.” He sat down on the blanket Jazz had spread on the floor.  Jazz sat down next to him and they relaxed.  Good music, good high grade, good company.

Day 28: Prompt 1: truth will out
“Ratchet knows you’re a femme.” Was the first thing Prowl said to Jazz when he woke up.
“Frag.” Jazz’s optics flickered beneath the visor.  “Was really hoping no-one would find out.”
“I wouldn’t have, had I not seen your spark.” Ratchet commented.  “The differences are obvious.  And no, before you ask, I’m not informing anyone.”
“Really?”
“Jazz, you had to know the truth would come out some time.  But no-one will find out from me.”
“Thank you.” Prowl locked optics with the medic.  “You have no idea how much this means to us.”
“Oh, I think I do.” Ratchet smiled.

Day 28: Prompt 2: a day in paradise
“This is perfect.” Prowl looked around.  “Thank you Jazz.”
“Mech, it’s my pleasure.” Jazz grinned, sauntering close and kissing Prowl.  He waved Prowl away to go and look at all the exhibits, finding somewhere to settle down to watch and wait.  It was a day in paradise for Prowl, and making Prowl happy made Jazz happy.

“Thank you.” When he was done, Prowl made his way back to Jazz and greeted him with a kiss.
“Did you have a good time?”
“Yes.” Prowl smiled and started elaborating as they left the gallery.  Jazz grinned, slinging his arm around Prowl’s waist.

Day 29: Prompt 1: "Jazz is doing what... ?!!"
Prowl onlined to see the bright orange ceiling of the medbay.  Again he cursed the architects’ preference for the garish color.
“Prowl.” Ratchet’s voice brought him out of his musings.
“Ratchet.  How long?”
“Not long, but why did you crash?  What the frag happened?” Ratchet wasn’t pleased that he had to reboot Prowl and he wanted to know why.  Prowl told him.
“Jazz is doing what…?” Prowl had the pleasure of watching Ratchet crash.  He barely managed to support the medic’s weight as Ratchet sagged against the berth.  He cursed Jazz as he heaved the medic on to his berth.

Day 29: Prompt 2: Words heal
Jazz had been distraught when he returned to Earth to find out that the shuttlecraft occupants had apparently been deactivated.  He’d been even more alarmed when Prowl had actually spoken to him while he was lying in state.
They hadn’t deactivated, just in heavy stasis.  Once Prowl had been released from the medbay, Jazz had spent every possible moment with his lover, just listening to him.
“Jazz?”
“Was so lost without ya, Prowl.”
“I know.”
“Just hearin’ yer voice helps heal mah spark and remind me yer still here.”
“Would you like another reminder?” Prowl asked, voice rich with promise.

Day 30: Prompt 1: A day at the beach
“I still don’t get why I’m here.” Jazz muttered, slouching against a rock while the science team exalted over whatever it was they were looking at.
“Because I requested your presence.” Prowl replied.
“If ya wanted ta spend a day at the beach wit’ me, there are better places to go.” Jazz commented.
“Indeed, but none that have the specific compounds Perceptor was after.”
“So we get to play bodyguard.” Jazz shifted a little closer to Prowl.
“Yes.  And then…” Prowl shot a glance at Jazz.  “And only then can we relax.”
“And enjoy our time at the beach.”
“Yes.”

Day 30: Prompt 2: Giant Robots (think Jaeger, think Pacific Rim, think crossover)  Totally haven't seen the film, so excuse any errors/mistakes
“You tore the fabric of time and space!” Jazz growled at Wheeljack.  “Where exactly are we?”
“Earth, I think.”
“You think?”
“We have more immediate problems.” Prowl interrupted Jazz’s rant at the engineer and pointed to the large mechanoid beings coming their way.
“Humans.” Perceptor’s scan was immediate, but Prowl held him back.
“I don’t think they know we’re friendly Perceptor.”  They dived for cover as they were shot at.
“Well ya know now, Prowl.” Jazz grinned.  “Can we return fire?”
“These weapons could seriously incapacitate us.” Perceptor pointed out.
“Self-defence only.” Prowl reminded them.  “Aim to incapacitate, not kill.”

Bonus prompt for fianna9 (as thanks for commenting on a couple of the drabble entries) - anniversary celebration
“HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!” Prowl flinched reflexively as the door to the rec room opened and they were assaulted by cheers from their friends.
“Heh.” Jazz grinned.  “Thanks.” He tugged Prowl further into the room where they could see it had been garishly decorated.  Prowl didn’t pull away, but Jazz could tell he was uncomfortable.
“Prowl, they’re doing this fer us.  Because they’re our friends.  Because they’re our family.”
“I know.” Prowl straightenedd up, doorwings relaxing a little.  “Thank you.” He nodded to the mechs present.  Sideswipe bounced up to them and handed them each a cube of high grade.
“Happy anniversary.”
