Authors Notes: I had fun doing the prowlxjazz Anniversary Challenge, if no one else enjoyed reading them. So when tf_rare_pairing announced their October challenge, I thought I might try something similar. Though this is going to be different as I have to write on a daily basis again. But that was fun when I did it before ( both times). So yeah… wish the ever-more-eccentric one luck?

There wasn’t much Jazz could do but hold on to Bluestreak as he struggled to process all the emotions. He clung tightly as Bluestreak murmured soft words into his audios, meant to soothe, but Jazz just couldn’t process them.
“Younglings, Blue.” He whispered, voice rough. “He was torturin’ younglings. We should be protecting them.”
“And we are.” Bluestreak’s strong voice stopped him. “We are protecting them, but we can’t be everywhere at once. Even you know that.”
“Shoulda been there.” Jazz muttered.
“We had no way of knowing Shockwave would target that facility. Not even Prowl had predicted that.”
“Still…”
“Still nothing.” Bluestreak tugged Jazz up so he could look at him properly. With his visor retracted, Jazz looked surprisingly young and defenceless. But Bluestreak knew he was anything but. Over and over again, he’d proved himself in special operations, rising to becoming the Head of Special Ops. But every mech has a breaking point. And Jazz’s breaking point was sneaking into Darkmount and seeing Shockwave torturing younglings he’d kidnapped from a youth facility earlier that orn.
“We’re doing everything we can to help them. I know for a fact that Ratchet, First Aid and Hoist have their hands full dealing with all the younglings you managed to liberate. And from what I heard from Wheeljack about the bomb he gave you, there’s not going to be much of Shockwave’s laboratory left for him to work in.”
“Yeah.” Jazz choked out his response. “Saved most of ‘em. But…”
“But the ones you couldn’t are already in a better place, and Primus will soothe away their cares.” Bluestreak watched intently until Jazz nodded his agreement.
“I hate this war.” Jazz curled back up against Bluestreak.
“I know. We all do. That’s why we’re fighting to end it.”
