The Outland Chapter 12 bmshirts July 8 2008, 23:06:18 UTC
Well now! Jack has met Ennis' girls, ridden with them to Alma's house, tipped his hat to her (a snub if I ever saw one!), openly looked at another guy's ass! Things are coming a long way for them. I hope the girls come to accept Ennis and Jack together, instead of more lies. Alma, of course, will never accept it, but she can't stop it. Even Monroe is fed up with her obsession.
Rob will learn the truth when he comes for the summer. Will he go home and tell Lureen? Or worse, L.D.?
And who did Jack call? An annoying smirk always precedes some new Twist deviltry.
Thanks. Carole

You know, I love the scene in the film when Jack and Alma make eye contact. You could write a whole book on Jake G's expression. Wonderful acting.

Oh, this was great! Jack sure was in fine form throughout LOL! The entire chapter highlighted the essence of who Jack and Ennis are in so many ways - both subtle and direct, and there were a lot of pivotal moments, too.

"Still do, but it's funny, don't seem so important now." Well, that's a kind of watershed in itself. They don't need Brokeback because they have the "real" power and are living it everyday. And could young boy Jack ever have believed that staying in Lightning Flat would be the stuff of his dreams? And I don't think either one of them could've imagined they'd be bantering (albeit mostly one-sided :)) about a young ranch hand's ass and what he'd be doing with it that night! How far they've come in one brief year, especially when compared to the 20 that came before ( ... )

I love the pivotal moments in life. Sometimes we see them when they happen, and other times we don't recognise them until long afterwards. I didn't really plan this chapter, just drifted along with the characters and found out where they took me. Most enjoyable.

This was a great chapter. So glad that the visit with the girls went so well. I think Junior figured alot about Ennis and Jack by herself. It's to bad that Jack is still a little insecure about Ennis, but you can't blame him. Hopefully, Ennis is loosenig up a little and Jack will feel more at rest. Who did Jack call? Please don't leave us hanging to long.

Ok I loved how Jack helped Ennis get the gifts and then the visit with the girls and being part of Ennis's world was great. This little young man that has Jack's fancy has me worried. What will Ennis do if Jack is having an affair. What would Ennis think if Jack brought this young man out to the farm for a threeway? OK my dirty little mind at work but I see a typhoon on the horizon. Joe
