For the third time this week (and it's only Tuesday, you know!), someone's commented that I really ought to get some lotion for my hands. I don't mind an acquaintance offering the occasional "helpful" suggestion, but when it's on a daily basis and it's so damn glaringly obvious, I get a little irked.

If I saw someone whose hands looked like ( Read more... )

I have this exact same problem, consequently, for the exact same reason. I try not to get irked at people who are probably concerned about imminent hand zombification, though, because honestly, they're just trying to help.

I'm a fan of the moisturizing hand lotions that also claim to have some antibacterial stuff inside. Probably not *all* that effective in the goal of killing every germ ever, but it's nice to work towards combating hand-rot while destroying some bacteria at the same time.

On second glance, my comment seems an awful lot like the advice you were just railing against. If it qualifies as such, I apologize. xD;

No worries, I won't rail anymore. I'm just in a shit mood because I lost my camera, so I chose to take it out on possible well-wishers who are only putting me in an even worse mood.

I think maybe they're just freaked out because they think whatever is responsible for said zombification may be contagious. Which would be fantastic, actually. I wish OCD were contagious. Maybe that would shut people up.

Yeah, it's a little intrusive. This past summer I took a nasty spill and banged up my face pretty bad. My eye was black and swollen shut, I had deep scratches on my forehead that left scars. I really looked like I'd been beaten within an inch of my life, even though it was a relatively stupid accident that caused it. Still, you wouldn't believe how many people asked me what had happened. I'd just assume someone had been domestically abused, and would leave them the hell alone.

One of my good friends in Grand Forks has potentially one of the creepiest email addresses I've come across. He chose it because, allegedly, one of his old nicknames in high school stemmed from his hands never doing any manual labour, common in the small North Dakotan town.

Oh, wow... That could be very awkward. I hope he doesn't work in a Kindergarten.
