Vancouver 2006 Creation Con 1 - Friday and Set Tour

Mar 28, 2006 18:13

This is my con report, which is mine, and it may possibly contain spoilers at some point, so I'm putting in a cut tag. Here's Friday and the set visit, and I hope to make it through the rest later.

Yep, I agree, it sounds really cool... I think it would be interesting to see the sets and how they put it all together.

Do they have any camera locations/booms out and visable? That's the sort of thing I'd really like to see. (me and about a bazillion other people, eh?)

When they made you sign did they mean you couldn't share photos of the sets or just of the people?

Glad you had a good time and hope to hear more!

The cameras aren't up as they aren't shooting, but the lights and other equipment are there. These are actual shooting sets, and if they didn't have the tours going though, they would be filming that day. Instead, everyone not working the con gets the day off, and the studio loses the day.

The waiver was specific to the set visit, as they didn't want photos to be spread around on the internet:

I may take photographs of and on the Stargate Sets solely for my personal use and enjoyment, and I agree not to, nor will I permit anyone to, publish, sell, exhibit or otherwise exploit such photographs at any time in any physical and/or digital media whatsoever, including without limitation posting any such photographs on the internet.

It's not harsh as these things go, and you can most certain take whatever pictures you want of the people at the con, but they want to control what gets seen of the studio, and I would hate to mess that up for any future fans that might want to go.

It was a lot of fun. I'd never done behind-the-scenes stuff like this, other than touring universal studios and being on a kid's TV program years ago, so it was really cool to see. Thanks!

I am totally going to point people at your con reports so that I don't have to write any. You did more stuff than I did anyway. My con report would be all, "And then I went up to the room to hide from the scary people asking embarrassing questions. The End."

Also? Eeeee!

Is it next year yet?

That's good, as I will point people to your photos, as I am lame and may never get them posted. *g* And man, next year!

There were bad moment, I agree. Zoe bailed on several panels because of the fear of crazy fans factor, but nobody was too terribly bad. (Questions about who is the best kisser, long 'I love your acting, you are so wonderful, will you give me a hug' things, and this kid who had poor impulse control and shouted things out like 'my dad thinks you're hot!') I would invest in either ipod or earplugs or an ability to take extreme interest in manicures and ceiling tiles should the need arise.

It was a ton of fun! I haven't mentioned the tiny annoyances and am just letting them fade, as the big stuff like the set tour was just so fantastic.

Oh, good -- it sounds like you had a blast! I want to hear all about it -- even the niggling bad things (if you're in the mood), and see your pictures, and hear about Amanda and Joe!

(And it's just as well I didn't go -- I have god's own cold...)

You totally should come over! (I only say this as all 130 photos are currently on Lar's machine, and it's not like I am great about posting. *g*) And I'd be happy to cover the small annoyances, like this 10-year-old kid with Aspergers who made me wish they had a separate room for children who act out.
