Just like in Life On Mars, I knew the puppets had to be tied to some show but I didn't have a clue. Funny innuendos, though.

I've just seen it !!!!!!!!!

The writers and Philip should take a bow for somehow making us love him and even poking fun at us for it.

So true! After 40 years of feminism indeed...:- )

I was spoiled about Alex 'father but like you I enjoyed the episode and I loved Gene taking the little girl in his arms and carrying her into the station. I even loved the over-the-top scene of Gene's speech with the music and everybody clappping, especially Alex who behaved like a little girl then. We were soooo in Alex' head and I'm sure she did imagine the music! The scene foreshadowed the ending and Gene being her hero, her knight in armour.

It made sense in a total illogical way, and because Gene did become a Genie there, coming out of a lamp and making wish happen.

Now I wanna call the Gene Genie, I've lost my voice, I need him too:

I'm in toruble, I'm in trouble!!!!!

The speech was fitting, even though it was over the top with rising music and all. But you couldn't help but fall into the cheer when Gene finished. Alex has won me over and I really felt for her in this episode. She spends all this time being in control and then at the end, realizes its all an illusion. I seriously melted with Gene's "I was needed" line. Made me suddenly transform into a damsel in distress.
Hee hee.
