Today we headed off to Sharjah, our neighbor emirate to the north, because my aunt had thrown a sort of housewarming-cum-iftar party.

My little cousin Insia took to calling me a 'Catholic'... probably because I go to a Catholic school.
Insia: You Catholic!
Danu: ?
Insia: Catholic!
So I came up with an equally lame come-back.
Danu: You Episcopalian

i wish i had a muslim community to break the fast with :( i have been making some pretty impressive dinners though. thats what thinking about food all day will bring. :)

i was thinking about you today. i know that you are not a religious muslim... im not sure how you identify yourself in terms of religion... anyways... toronto, canada has a really big muslim community. my friends cousin is an imam there at the 2nd largest mosque in canada. i dont know if that is something you would take into account when applying for schools. anyways... you probably want a change of scenery altogether and you definitely dont seem like the kind of person to "stick to your own" so forgive me if i sound ignorant. anyways :) just wanted to share... then again, you are catholic and might not fit in.

I don't consider myself a Muslim [and definitely not a Catholic as Insia believes]... I just don't see the point in organized religion anymore.
I'm not taking the proximity of mosques or anything Islamic into consideration while applying to universities in Canada. It wouldn't be of any use - I don't go to the mosque a lot.
You don't sound ignorant at all! Why do you always think like that?

Insia was calling you a Catholic? That doesn't really sound very insulting! Really, the only religion you can "accuse" someone of being and potentially offend him or her is "Jew". Try it sometime! You'll probably get the reaction of "I am not!" But be careful, because some are more prone to wanting to fight you if you say that than others, lol.

Insia's 'insults' aren't very insulting [yet]. When she was younger, she used to call people names like 'table', 'chair' or 'Mickey Mouse' and then laugh her head off because she thought she had successfully insulted the person. Meanwhile the insulted person gave her weird looks and carried on with their work.

Now with all this War on Terror and all, if you want to use religion to insult people, you should call them 'You Moslem!' [Mawz-lem]. They'll beat your ass, you know :D

Yeah, I learnt most of it online. In the summer of 2005, I went to the US and there I bought a Hebrew tutorial book, so that helped me a lot. Plus, talking to nir1 and tatianastav has improved my Hebrew a lot, especially since the latter communicates with me entirely in Hebrew as she can't speak English.
