Today, I wrote my first A-level examination!
And yes, I am happy about it.
The questions were pretty easy.. the only trouble I had was in measuring the thickness of a sheet of aluminum foil. Using that value of thickness, I calculated the volume of the sheet and after weighing the foil, I had to find the density of aluminum. My original measurement of thickness was wrong, so the volume was wrong and the density was just 1.68 grams/cubic centimeters [as opposed to the actual value of 2.7 g/cm3]. I skipped that question and went on the next part.
After I'd finished that, I went back to the thickness question and measured it again - this time it measured just 0.05 millimeters less than the previous measurement.. but it made a mountain of a difference to the calculated values of volume and density - the density shot up to 2.74 g/cm3, which is really really close to the actual value. Hurrah!
I even connected the electrical circuit on my own! The supervisor just made a few changes here and there with my
ammeter connections, but the rest was fine. All because of the absence of the devilishly ugly
rheostat. So I retained my two marks which I would've lost if she would have connected the entire circuit for me. Olé!
I'm satisfied with this exam. Surprisingly, I wasn't the least bit worried or tense while I was answering.
