Ah...

Tonight, I had a grilled cheese sandwich. I don't know why I'm posting this; perhaps it's because I can't remember the last time I had a grilled cheese and it was awesome.

Now, I'm going to do the dishes and then finish The Kite Runner.

books, food

It was fantastic. :-P The only drawback was that I cooked it on multigrain bread (it was all I had). I TRUE grilled cheese needs to be on heavily-buttered white bread!

This multigrain bread I got (I think the brand is Arnold's) is really good... I like it better than both white and wheat! It definitely did okay as a grilled cheese! I cooked it over medium heat though, and it was done a little faster than I'd have liked it to be. Next time, gotta take it slow. ;-)

Speaking of pesto and sun-dried tomatoes, I just bought a Boar's Head gourmet spread with those same ingredients. Haven't tried it on a sandwich yet, but it sounds awesome!

You got that right! I think the best grilled cheese I ever had was at the old Athletic Training Table restaurant that was in the Moore Center by Doak Campbell. It was all-you-can-eat, but I could never eat more than one sandwich... The things were just SOAKED in butter and tasted SO good!

The book was awesome. I think what I liked the most about it was that it was told from such a different point of view. I mean let's face it, I have no clue what life in Afghanistan is like! So many of the books I read are based here in America, so this one was like a breath of fresh air. And... It made me want a pomegranate. :-P

Now I'm going to totally switch gears, and read the Louis Sachar book I got for $2 @ the Strand. Yeah, it's a kids book and I almost feel guilty reading it. But... I just really liked his books when I was a kid. So whatever! :-P
