Rosie had emailed her itinerary to Kayashima the day before after she had changed her booking. The trip would be slightly more expensive this way but Jonna had been understanding. As eager as he was to see her, Rosie was glad he understood she needed to be there for her friends too ( Read more... )

"I go for work every once in a while." The little yosei was crying from laughter, she was having so much fun. Nothing really harmful happened, just inconveniences for those unfortunate enough to be passing by the pixie-like tyrant. People were stumbling, bottoms of bags would give out, small things broke...It was quite the scene outside the window but Taiki ignored it so long as no one was hurt.

"Really. I may have to put you to the natto challenge." A small, devious smile. "But you are right; there is something comforting about foods particular to your home."

"Was the food okay?"

Taiki dropped the stalker subject. He had put pieces together and knew of certain tendencies that appeared in Rosie's aura...He did not care because things turned out well between Rosie and Jonna, but he also did not want to discuss it further. The past was the past.

"They must really like Mr. Johnson's music..." The idea baffled him a little. Taiki didn't really get the obsession many had with music...He prefered silence, usually.

"You get to decide what we do now." The bill was paid and he finished off the last of his drink.

I liked it.

She smiled. Though it may have been true about her, Rosie was completely unaware of her own stalkerish behavior. She had always written it off as being in love.

Lotta people like hearin' him an' the band. Rosie thought it over while he paid. She wondered what to do. What is there ta do here in the city..or town? Ain't sure what this is.

"Good." He smiled and sat back in his chair. "I am sorry you did not enjoy the natto. I should not have done that to you, it was not nice." Another smile, this time apologetic.

"It is a very large city." Taiki laughed a little. "There is a very beautiful garden, a few museums, the beach, a lake, the Tokiwa Shrine, a few parks..." He looked up, trying to remember everything. "...Various shops if you would prefer...An odd art statue..."

Glad I gotta try it. Ain't gonna know iffin' I like somethin' iffin' don't try it. Rosie wasn't upset because it was something she didn't like. It was worth trying.

Oh. Rosie thought it over and shrugged. I like ta see stuff makes a city what it is. Stuff ain't gonna see other places.

Taiki frowned just a little. "The statue is...ahm...unique. And there is only one Kairaku-en, Kodokan Hall, and Tokiwa Shrine...The only places I really know are related to my work, and I do not think you would enjoy them." More frowning. If Taiki had a life outside of work and books then he would be a better guide. But...that is not the case.

I'd love ta see it. Rosie was serious too. She liked to see the cultural side of a city even if it seemed boring. Which ones the closest ta us?

"I believe only the art center with the big statue and the Tokiwa Shrine would be open at this hour. I would have to look at a map to see where they are located. I have not been to either so I do not know which would be more enjoyable..." He wrinkled his nose, thinking. "Other than that...I know of three mostly-abandoned buildings, a library, and a run down tea house." He shrugged. "The lady who owns the tea house makes good onigiri...Her birds are a bit annoying, though."

I'd like ta see the shrine. Rosie was very certain about that.

Taiki decided that the easiest way to get around his lack of Mito-knowledge would be to just hire a cab. It took about ten minutes for them to get to the Shrine.
"It is dedicated to two great Shoguns, that is all I know." There were only a couple of people milling about besides them. Several things were on display and Taiki translated for Rosie, telling her about the calligraphy, books, and other research things left behind by the two Tokugawa Shoguns...as well as the drum and huge cannon.

Rosie paid attention very carefully to everything he said about the shrine and displays. She even asked some questions though she honestly didn't know much at all about Asian culture. The canon though made her laugh some. She couldn't help it.

I'm glad we came here.

"Ahm, it says..." He tapped his finger on the explanation sign. "The cannon was made out of Buddhist statues that were melted down. The Shogun ordered the statues to be gathered from some houses under his rule." A little smirk-y smile. "Shoguns are not known for being humble and reserved."

Taiki smiled. "Good, I am happy for that."

Oh. Rosie stopped laughing and even looked a little embarrassed about it.

I am happy. I like ta learn 'bout places.

Taiki chuckled. "No, it is fine to laugh. It is absurd." He put his hands in his pockets and peered at the cannon. "People with power do very odd things."

Jonna uses canons on stage. She grinned and look around. I like it here. It's quiet.

Taiki stopped and blinked. "Cannons...on stage?"

He looked around, smiling a little. "Yes, it is nice. It is not as beautiful when the trees are not in bloom, but there are also less crowds."
