Sounds like whatever is wrong, it's knocked your thyroid function out. It's not liable to be hypERthyroidism if you're feeling cold, listless, and dull.

I had similar symptoms when I was first diagnosed as hypothyroid. My thyroid was enlarged and everything. It didn't hurt all the time, but it hurt to talk with my head turned at all and it hurt to swallow unless I was sitting bolt upright and facing straight ahead, and it hurt if I rolled my neck a certain way. The heartbeat thing . . . that makes sense. If it's enlarged, it'll be putting a little pressure on the big blood vessels.

I am willing to bet that your meds won't work as well if your metabolism is crawling along.

I hope it's just garden-variety hypothyroidism. If that's all it is, it's not scary to live with, and you will feel better very fast once you get on meds. Like, same day. I was warm again in 45 minutes. Magic pill!

*hugs*

Try not to worry too much. I know that's useless advice, I'm sorry. But it'll be okay.

Most thyroid stuff is pretty easy to fix. I have a dear friend who had thyroid cancer when she was 19. She's my age, so it's been almost 30 years. She has to take meds,of course, but she is doing quite well.

I've been dealing with thyroid issues myself lately. From what I've heard and read it's not such a big deal. FYI, after I had the radioactive uptake test, I was told by a surgeon that it's a useless test. Ultra sound was all they needed.

Yeah...they're not doing that one on me. Just going straight to the ultrasound.

My friend Colette has an underactive thyroid and is fine most of the time thanks to medication. Hopefully once the doctors have diagnosed you properly and you have the right medication you'll feel fine again.
