Things Twitter needs

Oct 30, 2012 07:41

• Posts longer than 140 characters.

• Privacy options for each post.

• Inline images.

• Inline replies.

• Ability to sort posts with tags.

• Ability to find posts by date.

• Archiving (but not by the Library of Congress).

Oh wait. There's already a blogging site that has these features.

It's LiveJournal!

It is all about using the proper tool for the job. There are times when Twitter is a good fit, and other times when LJ is much better. It is when people try to use twitter to make posts that should be on LJ that makes me both mad and sad.

Yep, as each new trendy social media outlet crops up, I try them out, only to be inevitably disappointed because it's not as good as Livejournal. Nice try Twitter and Tumblr!

Well, whenever someone sells more of an inferior product, it's usually because of better marketing.

I don't think LJ has actually advertised the site itself since 2003.

At least, it does until the LJ management decides that the next update will be to remove privacy options because they're confusing and to remove all archived posts over two weeks old to streamline the user experience. The sad thing is, I can see the current management doing that. =:(

I think you're right. I just read that news announcement. *sigh* What is wrong with those people?
