And some of the most extreme "dude, can House do that?" moments I've had have stemmed from fic by authors who actually do have experience with chronic pain. I think writers who lack that experience are more likely to err on the side of caution and limit his abilities. I know I have.

I don't mind when an author limits what he does because they aren't sure. That's okay. I've just seen a lot of fic where he doesn't do anything but sit and limp. That's sometimes more annoying than monikers for me. That's just what I think though.

I rarely stop reading a fic just because of terms, and I don't think you've overused any terms so far - plus your reasoning for when they should be used works - especially the wombat part, I didn't realize that but it really does fit Chase.

Thank you. I don't think many people have given it a lot of thought, but after watching The Sentinel and listening to Blair go on about spirit animals I give a little thought to any animal references in shows.
