I definitely, DEFINITELY can relate to friends putting you down. I'm... too nice of a person, and for some reason, would end up the butt of a lot of jokes. It doesn't happen so much now, thank goodness, but during high school and a little bit after, it was really awful. I'm sorry you're going through that yourself. b) Friends bringing you down = not cool. :( I know confrontation epically sucks, but have you ever addressed it with them? I know with friends I've known for a long time, it's easy to get into habits, and it would be easy for me to tease them and them to take it the wrong way - but I wouldn't know unless they told me. Maybe it's similar with your friends?
But regardless - living with someone who poses the potential to bring you down...mmm I would opt for someone cheerier.
Definitely surround yourself with wonderful, supportive people - because that's huge in maintaining your sanity. :)
