Its hard to tell in that picture, but I did a google image search on the character they seem to be mostly wearing some sort of robe. Try a google search on medieval robes, it might help be more specific (if you search on robes it just keeps bring up dressing gowns and smoking jackets though).
I was going to suggest "surcoat" but it seems like surcoat were USUALLY sleeveless and I can't tell in that photo if the coat thing has sleeves or not.
Yeah, it does. He usually wears that type of clothing item on the show and they almost always have long sleeves attached. I think there were one or two that didn't but yeah the one in the pic definitely has sleeves as part of it.
Here in the states we have western dusters, but that doesn't seem to fit this either. I'd probably call it an overcoat. It's the closest fit I could think of.
I've often wondered this myself. I really love the cut of his coat, especially the collar, but I've never seen anything else like it and it seems unique even in-setting. 8/
I think the costumers used a qamis for inspiration, then used a heavier fabric and really nice tailoring to come up with this garment. I tried to add a link but was flagged as spam. If you search google images for qamis, you can see a picture.
