Weight thingies

What are these things? The weights look like fishing weights but what are the clips for? Are these just re-purposed fishing weights, or does this exact thing have its own purpose?

For what it's worth, I found them during breaking down a theater event and initially thought they were weights for the curtains. Not so sure now. I grabbed them for, uh,

i would say curtain weights. i was going to say table cloth weights, but they are far too big. Good luck trying to find out:)

Cool, glad curtain weights sounds about right! Although now that I think about it, they were on a table with a cloth on it... and that seems more probable knowing the situation I found them in. Hmmm. They're not actually that big, both of them fit in my hand easily.

I've always thought of them as sinkers. :) Can't imagine what you'd use them for with clips though!

Yeah, I searched around on fishing websites and the weights themselves are definitely sinkers but the clips are the confusing part. I'm still thinking curtain weights but they've since been repurposed. Thanks : )

The clips are for curtains, you would most commonly see them in a store already attached to rings but can buy them as just the clips. The weight is definitely a fishing weight. I would assume that someone needed curtain weights and couldn't afford/didn't have the time to order actual curtain weights (that are sewn into the curtain itself) and fashioned that together

That makes sense. The clips attach the curtains to the rings to hang them, right? My findings also suggested weights for curtains are usually sewn in, so I was curious how this worked.

Do you have a local theatre or somewhere that you could ask? Maybe they'd know if they are, or were, for curtains?

From what others have said, that's what seems to make sense though. Or something from the 'props dept'.

Definitely seems like curtain weights is the common thought here, even if it's makeshift ones. Thanks for the thought of asking a theater locally : ) that's a good idea.

What 'other uses' are you putting them to, out of interest?

They're useful for many things ; ) but the base of my use has simply been their original purpose, using them as a weight to pull on things
