Does anyone know what genre this music is? I think it could technically count as New Age, but I have yet to find any New Age music that sounds like this, so I'm hoping there is another genre out there that fits it better.

music, genre

I'd call it World Music. World Music blends ethnic musical styles together, and the prominent instrument other than voice is a gamelan, an Indonesian chromatic percussion instrument.

Ah, good idea! (Can't think why I didn't look in world music before.) And it's grea to know what instrument that is, the only way I could describe it before was "wind-chime-y" and that wasn't getting me anywhere...

I'd also call it World Music or World Beat. That's a pretty wide label so I'm sure there's a lot of World Music that isn't very similar, but I think that's your best bet for finding similar stuff. The piece you posted reminds me a bit of Enya, Enigma and Adiemus, all of which sort of fall under World Music. It reminds me even more of a particular instrumental piece off a world music compilation that I have, but I can't find the CD.

Ironically I enjoy all three artists you mentioned, but found them all under "New Age". They share a lot of sound elements with the "The Secret Swim", but don't have as much of that ethnic sound as I was looking for. I hadn't thought of looking in world music, though, so that may end up being the perfect solution! Thanks! ^^
