Rory's car

Does anyone know what kind of car Dean builds for Rory on the show Gilmore Girls? The completed car is first seen in Richard in Stars Hollow (2.12) and Jess crashes it in Teach Me Tonight (2.19) Here's a link to a picture.

FOUND: It's a 1961 Dodge Lancer.

Yeah, I was wondering about that since it reads Lancer right on the door.

A search for "gilmore girls lancer" returns information that it is a 1961 Dodge Lancer. I knew it was early '60s, but I was sure on the year.
