It's not them, but I could be mixing up their song with this mystery band's song. I don't think so though, because I remember them singing about burying it in the backyard.

Wasn't there some show that a band called Flickerstick won? Or came in second. I had a coworker obsessed with them. I don't know about videos, though.

I don't know about burying a hatchet, but Nightmare of You, possibly? They have a song called "I Wanna Be Buried in Your Backyard" and this is the cover of their first album:

I am so glad I could help!
FYI, they have release an EP and a full-length since their first was released.
I haven't listened to either, but they just played their last string of shows and are currently taking an indefinite break.
But I love, love, love this album.
