European painter, pictures of fossil excavations from a cliff on a shoreline, mid-1800s. I want to say that this person was female and also involved in the excavation itself, but I may be getting my wires crossed. Sadly that's not it. This was more of an art sketch than a science sketch.

Also I found the woman I was looking for and she wasn't an artist (Mary Ann Mantell, who discovered Iguanodon teeth), so I'll go take that out.

Hmm. The painting I'm looking for isn't of a fossil itself, but of the excavation site in the side of a cliff.
