I'm watching the pilot episode of Glee right now and there was a song in the background that I recognise but can't place. It was playing during the scene where the popular guy was telling his jock teammate that he had quit the glee club; it was right before the scene where he rescued the nerdy kid from the port-a-potty.

Any idea?

I think it was moonlight sonata

I think it was too. I just didn't recognize it because it was done with vocals.
