Hello all!

My father is looking for the meaning of a symbol on his volt-ohm meter. It is an equilateral triangle, with a point straight to the right, and then a cross on the right, kind of like this: -|>|- but with the lines connected. The symbol is on the "selector switch" and is green.

Google was no help, and any suggestions are appreciated!

Techie husband says it's a diode checker.

Diode checker is pretty handy. When selected the red probe is positively charged and the black probe is ground. When you put the probes on the leads of a switching diode or LED the meter will tell you the voltage drop across the component. This allows you to quickly verify the polarity of a random diode from the parts drawer. What's really nice about it is you can confirm that the LED you just soldered in your design still works.
