I would agree, if two Mexicans for example come to our country and have a child in the US that child is a US citizen right? So wouldnt it work the opposite way if a child were born in Mexico?
Luca, who used to work with your mom and i, had his kids in the u.s. so that they would be u.s. citizens and because canada recognizes dual citizenship, and canada give the child the citizenship of the parents, they are also canadian. luca is candian and italian and his wife has dual cit. also. if you are BORN in the u.s. you are, not matter what, a citizen of the united states, and that can never be taken away from you unless you choose to do so.
A child of 2 american parents born outside the US and not in a territory or base is not legally BORN a US citisan. However, to become one all he (or she) needs is a sponser who's a relative who lives in and is a US citizan (it also won't take like 10+ years to obtain said citizanship). This protects children born when parents are on vacation and such.
you whva eto be born in the u.s or on a us millitary base to an america citizen...but say your born while your parents are on vacation overseas it is a simple matter of fixing the citizen ship later

I think you're correct about being born in the U.S to be a citizen. It'd make the most sense.
