I have a whole mess of pasta sauce (red to be exact) chugging along in my crock pot as I type. The whole apartment smells phenomenal so I thought I would share the recipe. I have a 6 qt. crock so when I fill it 2/3-3/4 full I get a LOT of sauce, but it freezes well. Also, this recipe is so easily adaptable to your tastes. When cooking my legit ( Read more... )

Yumm. I will use this recipe but I will be adding apples to it, as I saw a recipe recently with some apples in marinara and it sounded AMAZING.

I haven't heard of this before!! It probably adds a nice sweetness and the pectins probably make for a nice thick sauce! Yum! Report back with how you like it!

My boyfriend doesn't eat a whole lot (which is a shame because I went to culinary school and am a self proclaimed food dumpster!), but he loves italian food. I use a stick blender to blend all the chunky bits and identifiable vegetable matter so he is none the wiser. If it can work on a grown man, I'm sure it'll work on your boy (provided you meant child, if you meant boyfriend, it'll surely work for him too!)

definitely meant my son, he's one. Although it would work on my husband too. He's not a big veggie eater either!

*grin* Yeah, when we got married, I had to introduce my husband to an entirely new food group.... vegetables! The only remotely green things in his fridge were science projects.

Oh, this sounds gorgeous. Much nicer than the jarred sauces I buy.

Oh heck yes it is! AND you get SO much of it for fairly cheap. I bought the dry/canned goods at Aldi and the fresh items at a local produce market. So inexpensive for a lot of sauce that freezes beautifully!
